The Society of American Florists’ 12th annual Petal It Forward united 800 floral businesses and organizations on Oct. 14, 2026, bringing flowers and unexpected moments of kindness to communities across all 50 states and seven additional countries.
The campaign’s premise is simple: Give people two bouquets — one to keep and one to share. At hospitals, schools, shopping centers, and other community gathering places, participants surprised recipients with flowers and an opportunity to brighten someone else’s day.
In addition to U.S. participants, floral businesses and organizations in Colombia, Canada, Ecuador, England, Jamaica, India, and The Bahamas joined the effort.
The campaign also drew local news coverage, bringing its message of kindness and the benefits of flowers to wider audiences. Bachman’s Inc.’s giveaway of 3,000 fresh flower stems at the Mall of America in Bloomington, MN, attracted attention from numerous media outlets. WIAT in Birmingham, AL, covered Norton’s Florist’s giveaway outside UAB Hospital, and WJJQ in Wisconsin reported on Trig’s floral teams distributing bouquets. In South Dakota, Carrie Moore, AAF, PFCI, SDCF, of
